is talk again of universities and the controversy inevitably bursts. Backed this time by the urban guerrilla. Because these are the news coming from Turin: fillers, sticks, stones, eggs flying, fighting.
We talk about universities and youth arise. Or at least some young people. I do not understand. When the University is a topic that does not appear in the papers back and nobody talks about it, at the first sign explodes il putiferio, le grida e le urla si moltiplicano. E’ un argomento caldo. Anzi, rovente.
How young people respond? Scream? No: too easy to confuse the extremists with University students who believe, hope, undertake. No, we are silent. And 'the problem, this is the plight of the University: the ideas are there, many have with each other and maybe talk about it, but no voice is raised. He discusses, perhaps in groups, but no proposal comes up.
The intention for reform from below is wonderful. Push students to discuss, create propulsion, the source of new and innovative ideas would be the turning point. Problem: who calls and has a big voice covers the other. And very often shouting and the loud voice confuses the struggle for the preservation of the crumbs as the revolution, the urban guerrilla warfare as the most effective means of discussion. The objectives are lost, merge, disappear among the eddies of ideology and ignorance. Function words, phrases, covering short-sighted brilliant ideas, innovative attempts to escape the patterns of all time. Propose an example: we all remember the events of October-November 2008? He looked like a new '68 with lots of demonstrations and occupations continue. Without going into details of the shape and outcome of the protest, I remember you protested against what is the reform Gelmini. How can we hope to bring change when you confuse the goals of the protest? Someone raised his voice when the cuts (real ones) are inserted in the budget passed quietly in the summer of that year? No. But when it appeared the law which Article 133 of the Minister of Education included the possibility of transformation of public universities in private foundations, they revolt. Revolt, as I recall, did not bring any proposals or new ideas. I will not comment further in the events, neither the financial nor the Gelmini convinced me that the current government was working to improve the public universities. And today I have certainly changed my mind.
The idea is this: what ways, what means, what tools to improve the University? To increase efficiency, meritocracy, research and training, how to act? I speak, for example, has a limited number of universities all right up to a maximum of absorption by the University: increased efficiency (less crowded classrooms, bureaucracy leaner, more efficient meritocracy ..). But it is only a proposal, one of many that can be discussed. I imagine some of them I can, all of us we can bring others, but what is the end, the voice that you hear about us? The urban guerrilla warfare? The screaming? The cries of confusing ideology or bias unchanged for too long?
can afford more, fly higher, with the thought, daring to make proposals, create a better debate between all of us. Or at least that's my idea.
